The Odikro(Chief) of Atwima Koforidua-Akrofuom in the Atwima Nwabiagya District has decided to personally funding a number of development projects in the community.Nana Osei Adusah’s initiatives include construction of roads, schools and electrification. He has since his enstoolment four months ago spent about 60 thousand Ghana cedis on road construction alone in an effort to better the lot of his people.Nana Adusah is particularly unhappy about children of the local Junior High School attending classes in dilapidated building, compelling him to spend several thousands of cedis towards providing educational facilities. With the support of the local unit committee, he is putting up a two storey classroom block to address the problem. A large tract of land has also been allocated for the construction of a Senior High School in the community. The 42-year-old chief says he is motivated by the leadership style of Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, who places premium on education. He advised his colleague traditional leaders to use resources such land, gold, bauxite among others entrusted in their care to the benefit of their communities. This, according to him, is a sign of true leadership, and not when one uses them for personal purposes and show of sheer richness.Koforidua-Akrofuom had been embroiled in a protracted and violent chieftaincy and land dispute, resulting sometimes in casualties.Calm has however returned to the area following the nomination and subsequent swearing in of Nana Adusah. He has appealed to residents to bury their differences and live in harmony for development of the area.
