Ghana's women U-17 team, the Black Maidens are confident of beating South Africa on Friday to pick their spot at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup to be held in Azerbaijan.
The Maidens play their second leg of the final round of qualifying at the Accra Sports Stadium with kick off at 3:00pm [15:00 GMT].The first leg in South Africa a fortnight ago ended goalless and the Maidens’ technical head Mas-Ud Dramani believes this puts his side in a difficult situation although a win is inevitable.
“In association football, when you have a scoreless first leg, it makes the second leg very dicey and very open. The only thing you have to do is to win in any form and that is the knowledge of results we put into our team. The final game is a game we need to win at all cost.” he told JOY Sports.
The Black Maidens now have to win the return game to seal their place in the finals to be hosted by Azerbaijan later this year.
Ghana are chasing one of the three final slots for places in Azerbaijan 2012.
Qualification to the World Cup will make it a third successive appearance for the Black Maidens on the world stage.
