Medical doctors at the Brong Ahafo Regional Hospital are complaining about the lack of suitable accommodation at the facility, a situation they say is hampering their ability to deliver quality healthcare to their patients.
According to the doctors, the distance from the various hotels and guest houses rented for them to their place of work also hinders their ability to respond promptly to emergencies.
The hospital has already lost most of its critical staff as a result of this problem.
It currently has just one specialist surgeon on contract, with several of the other doctors said to be considering their future.
“Sometimes for instance you might be called to attend to an emergency where time is a factor; the patient might suffer in that sense,” one of the doctors told Joy FM’s Brong Ahafo regional correspondent Kuuku Abban.
