The Police Administration has said that the suspension of checking driving licenses, road worthy certificates, and insurance certificates still holds.
The Inspector General of Police issued a directive a couple of weeks ago prohibiting officers of the Police Service from inspecting vehicular documentation.
The directive according to Mr. Paul Tawiah Quaye, was in line with his resolve to enforce discipline and redeem the sinking image of the service.
However, some officers have been spotted going contrary to the directive, prompting speculations among the public that, the ban had been suspended.
The Daily Graphic on Tuesday 3rd July reported that personnel of the MTTU were seen busily undertaking checks on vehicles near the Kumasi campus of the University of Education Winneba.
Acting Public Relations Officer of the Police Administration DSP Cephas Arthur however said on Okay Fm on Tuesday that the ban had not been lifted.
DSP Authur rather stressed that personnel from the MTTU will continue to do their routine checks on unnecessary speeding, drunk driving and other driving offences that cause accidents on the roads.
