The Vice-Chancellor of Cape Coast Technical University, Professor Kwaku Adutwum Ayim Boakye, has commended Joy Prime for introducing the Big Chef tertiary culinary competition.
He said the contest grants the lecturers of the university the chance to engage their students practically in a professional manner as they apply the theoretical aspects learnt in class on the field.
As part of the mandates of all technical universities in Ghana, practical sessions are a priority for lecturers and students. Therefore, he sees Big Chef Tertiary as a privilege for the participating schools.
The vice chancellor spoke with Joy Prime’s Michelle Agyekum during the CCTU audition session on Monday, August 12, 2024.
“It’s a good thing that a program like Big Chef Tertiary comes really handy because it gives us the space and opportunity to engage our students to do real practical work also in a professional way. So, I’ll want to commend the organisers of this program for this very brilliant initiative.”
He furthered that the competition helps to perfect the practical skills and boost the confident level of the students as they battle with other universities across Ghana.
Prof. Ayim Boakye also believes that the show offers the school a platform to showcase their effectiveness and credibility through their representatives, convincing people who wish to venture into the hospitality sector to enrol in the school, thereby increasing the number of students.
“It’s good and builds the confidence of our students; it sharpens their skills, and more importantly, it positions our university at places where people who want the skills can come for education,” he added.
Meanwhile, Team Nice won the internal audition to represent Cape Coast Technical University in the national culinary combat, which comes soon on Joy Prime.
They will be competing with other universities, including Wa Technical University, Bolgatanga Technical University, Ho Technical University, Takoradi Technical University, Koforidua Technical University, and Accra Technical University.
The second edition’s audition train is still on the move, and the production team will make their next stop at Accra Technical University to select their representatives for the season.
The auditions are covered live on the Joy Prime channel and replicated on all of its social media platforms, including Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Tik Tok, and @JoyPrimeTV.
Big Chef Tertiary Season 2 is brought to you by Fortune Rice and Frytol Cooking Oil. It is also sponsored Hallmark Cafe, Chefware, Indome, Adansi Travels and Western Serene Atlantic Hotel.
