Ghana’s U-17 womens team were sent home on Tuesday without receiving their bonus for qualifying the nation to the World Cup in Azerbaijan. The Black Maidens were promised mouthwatering reward if they are able to dispatch off South Africa to make it to their third successive World Cup – one they did with aplomb. The girls last Friday thrashed Batwana 5-1 to clinch one of the three slots reserved for Africa after the first leg ended goalless. The expectant players were however disappointed when told their bonuses were not ready as they checked out of the Marisset Hotel.“The girls were bitterly disappointed not to receive their bonuses as they headed home,” a source said.“I am sure such [that] thing can never happen with the Black Stars especially after qualifying for a major tournament like the world cup.“We just hope for expedited action so this problem can be quickly resolved before the world cup proper.”The U-17 Womens World Cup in Azerbaijan starts in September.
