Black Stars “B” were sent crashing back to earth ahead of their CHAN qualifier against Burkina Faso with a 3-1 defeat to Attram Academy.
The team had an unblemished record heading into the friendly playing against Premier League sides as well as two national sides.
And with their last test game to go ahead of their crunch tie, the team was given a reality test. The academy side went two up through Reginald Thompson and Godfred Odametey before Ashantigold striker Shafiu Mumuni halved the deficit.
Thompson got his brace to restore the two goal cushion in the second half and for assistant Maxwell, he felt the defeat could help them ward off any complacency.
“It was good exercise, this was the first time we have been beaten and for me it serves as a wakeup call even though we didn’t start with the best of our available players.
Players from Hearts and Kotoko sat out the game due to their commitment in the Super Clash and Konadu was delighted to have used that opportunity to assess other options.
“We needed to give other players the opportunity to see what they have got, so now have a clearer idea of those making the trip. It good to see these players in match
situations, if they are at the clubs they fantastic but when they don the national colours, it is a different situation all together.”
The team will leave for Ouagadougou on Wednesday.
