Richmond Boakye-Yiadom was ecstatic to have scored on his Black Stars debut against China in Wednesday's 1-1 friendly draw.
The 18-year-old was thrilled with both his first senior cap and the goal as he came off the bench to nod in the equaliser that handed Ghana a share of the spoils in Xi’an.
The equaliser was greeted with applause from his colleagues and the bench but the Juventus attacker is crediting the contribution of his colleagues for his debut goal.
“Scoring was something very exciting for me. It was the whole team that brought about the goal. We worked as a team and at the end the result came very well. I thank the whole team for helping for this goal to come,” Boakye-Yiadom said after the game.
Despite having a goal to his name on his senior debut, Boakye-Yiadom is not getting ahead of himself yet as he faces a keen competition for places in the team.
“It’s too early to judge. There are so many players around. The only thing is you need to train hard and focus on whatever you want to do in life.
“The rest of them, I would just leave to the Almighty God to decide my fate,” he said.
He hopes to carry on impressing to earn more opportunities.
“Right now, whatever has to happen will happen, no matter what goes on. Mine is to train and work hard and if I am being invited, the best I can do is to help my nation.
“I will come and do my best. The rest of them, I leave to the coaches and the committee members to decide.”
