An opportunity to assist municipal and district assemblies to exploit their resources and economic potentials would be on offer
when the Ghana@50 inter-district forum is held in Accra at the end of May.
The initiative in the form of a three-day exhibition and forum is aimed at bringing together some members of the district assemblies, especially the District Chief Executives (DCE), business entrepreneurs and individuals to showcase their resources and economic potentials.
The forum would also help the participants to explore the multi-faceted strategies in attracting investments.
Mr Kofi Poku-Adusei, Deputy Minister of Local Government Rural Development and Environment, said at a press briefing in Accra on Thursday that the intention of the conference was to bring to national attention how development partners, corporate and private investors could take advantage of these opportunities to create wealth and expand businesses.
He said the opportunity would not only develop and improve livelihood in the districts and municipalities but also enable small and medium enterprises in these areas to build national and global relationship for further expansion.
The event would be under the auspices of the African Connection in collaboration with the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Environment and the Ghana@50 Secretariat.
Dubbed: "Ghana@50 Inter-District Forum and Exhibition", the three-day event would be on the theme: "Sustainable Development for Rural Communities: A Key to Ghana Growth in the Next 50 years".
Mr Poku-Adusei said the programme would enable participating districts to build inter-district alliance for logistics and economic cooperation in the execution of the District Development Plan (DDP).
He said the event, taking into cognisance the 50th Independence Anniversary of Ghana celebration, stood to gain attention from both national and international community who are currently in the country to celebrate with Ghana.
Dr Ayesha S. Hakeem, Managing Director of African Connection, Ghana, said at the end of the three-day programme it was expected that the districts would have displayed their investment potentials to prospective investors.
"The Assemblies would be able to design informative district website and effective district profile to market their districts," she added.
