The Chief Executive Officer of environment 360, Cordie Aziz, has challenged bottling companies to take up proper plastic waste management as not only a means of cutting down cost but also to protect their brand images.
Cordie Aziz was speaking at the launch of environment 360, evolve phase 3 in commemoration of the world environment day.
She said, “It makes good sense to be environmentally conscious because people are beginning to associate poor sanitation to certain brands.
"So, if you are a brand and your bottles are labeled and people see them littering the beach etc, that not something that a company should want to be associated with. So when you look at your brand and what’s happening, it will be in the company’s best interest to harvest the used bottles for recycling”
The Evolve Community Recycling Program is a landmark-recycling program founded by Environment360 and Voltic GH Limited and funded through the Australian High Commission’s Direct Aid Program.
Since its introduction the evolve recycling program has helped keep 28 tons of plastic and 31 tons of paper from our landfills. As well as raise close to 60 000 thousand Ghana cedis to provide environmental education for children in the coastal areas.
Present at the launch was H.E Andrew Barnes, the Australian High Commissioner to Ghana, Mr Anthony Mensah, the director for waste management division of AMA and Raymond Mensah Gbetivi, the commercial manager for Voltic Ghana Limited.
