Boateng Kwasi, 14, said to be the only male child of his parents, was on May 03 waylaid and hacked in the bushes at Nyakoma, Bonakye in the Nkwanta District.
The fatally wounded boy, who was a school pupil, died from his wounds despite four hours of work by doctors at the Nkwanta District Hospital aided by visiting doctors on the Operation Ghana Medical Mission (OGMM) to save his life.
Ngbey Donkor, a farm Labourer who traveled to the village two days earlier to look for a job, is being prosecuted at the Nkwanta Magistrates Court on a provisional charge of murder.
Police said their investigating team was yet to establish why Ngbey Donkor attacked Kwasi.
Local sources told the Ghana News Agency that the deceased was returning from school with other colleagues when Donkor chased them.
Others escaped but Donkor caught up with the deceased, dragged him into the bush and set on him with a cutlass and later left the unconscious boy in the bush.
The sources said a search party found the almost lifeless boy in the bush and took him to the Nkwanta District Hospital where he died six hours after arrival.
Dr Koku Awonor-Williams, the Medical Superintendent of the hospital, described the incident as "gruesome".
"I have never seen anything like this before in my whole medical career. This boy must have suffered excruciating pain and my heart goes to the family, especially the parents," he said.
Dr Awonor-Williams said the boy received multiple scalp lacerations with exposed brains, a cut through the lower left ear and left shoulder.
