A 46 year-old businessman was on Thursday murdered by unknown criminals at Daddy’s Guest House in Bogoso in the Prestea Huni/Valley district.
The Prestea Police Commander, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Timothy Dassah, who confirmed this to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) said his office had a distress call around 0830 hours on Thursday that the late Francis Arthur was nowhere to be found and that they suspected he had been kidnapped.
He said after receiving the information, a team of police officers were dispatched to the scene and while conducting a thorough search around the premises, they found the body of the deceased lying in a pool of blood at the drinking bar of the guest house.
DSP Dassah said when the body was inspected, several cutlass wounds were found on the head, and that, the body has been deposited at the Prestea Government Hospital for autopsy.
He said information gathered from some workers at the Guest House revealed that although the deceased has his own apartment, he sometimes spends the night in the guest house.
DSP Dassah said according to the workers the deceased checked in after 2300 hours on Wednesday and the next day some staff at the guest house found the door leading to the deceased’s room opened with his Pick-Up vehicle parked in front of the guest house.
He said the workers tried to contact the deceased on his personnel mobile phones but the phones were all switched off.
The Police Commander said they later found a key to the deceased’s gold shop, which is half a kilometer away from the guest house.
DSP Dassah said when they inspected the shop with the help of the staff of the deceased, the gold and money that the deceased kept there were intact.
He called on the general public to volunteer information to assist the police in arresting the perpetrators of the crime.
