TP Mazembe beat Young Africans 1-0 on Tuesday in the Confederation Cup to earn their first away win in Confederation of African Football club competitions this year.
The DR Congo side scored in the 75th minute in Tanzania when Merveille 'Bope' Bokadi steered the ball home from close range after latching on to Roger Assale's follow-up effort from a free-kick routine.
The goal was bookended by two refereeing decisions questioned by the teams; first when Mazembe felt that the foul for the free-kick had taken place in the penalty area, and the second a claim from Young Africans that Bope was offside when he scored.
Mazembe, the equal second most successful Confederation of African Football club with nine titles, were demoted from the Champions League after being eliminated by Wydad.
Their win in Tanzania, in a stadium that was packed following the decision to allow fans free entry, puts them in a strong position to finish top of Group A.
