Police in the Amansie West district in the Ashanti Region have begun investigations into a case of attempted assassination of a Chinese national at Nkam near Nsiena.
The unnamed man is said to be receiving treatment for gunshot wounds at the intensive care unit of the Komfo Anokye hospital.
District Police Commander Superintendent Stephen Kwakye told Joy FM’s Elton Brobbey police is investigating the circumstances under which the man was shot as they search for his assailants.
"It is true. The guy is not dead. He is at the Okomfo Anokye Hospital receiving treatment.
“We are working around the clock to arrest the culprits. He will not immediately disclose the circumstances under which he was shot expect to say that investigations have started.
“By tomorrow we will arrive at how he was shot,” he promised.
Meanwhile Police in Ashanti have apprehended an immigration officer accused of robbery at a mining site in Fahiakobo near Jacobu, also in the Amansie District.
The arrest of 42 year old Felix Ntoah stationed at Baglu in the Volta region was upon a tip-off that the officer and his two other accomplices, who managed to escape, attacked miners and robbed them.
This comes barely two months after two soldiers and police officers were arrested for robbery in the Ashanti region.
Regional Police Commander, DCOP Augustine Gyening told Luv News they are working round the clock to fish-out unscrupulous individuals within the security agencies.
