Day 8 of Commonwealth Games wasn’t different from the previous days as Team Ghana again fell short of clinching medals.
Elizabeth Dadzie finished first in her 100m heat of the women’s heptathlon in a time of 13.49 seconds and 13th in the women’s high jump with a distance of 1.63 metres.
She was 12th in the shot put with a distance of 11.06 metres but she was disqualified in the 200m event.
She is 12th after 6 events with a score of 2422 points.
Agnes Abu finished 6th in the 800m heat with a personal best time of 2:02.50.
SHOOTING
Mercy Chodo placed 18th in the finals of the women’s 50m rifle prone event with a score of 597.5.
BADMINTON
Ghana’s pair of Daniel Sam and Emmanuel Donkor lost to their Malaysian counterparts in the men’s doubles round of 16.
Emmanuel Donkor and Stella Amasah also lost 2-0 to their Malaysian counterparts in the mixed doubles round of 16.
Emmanuel Donkor and Stella Amasah were beaten 2-0 by Jemie Lai Shevon and Soon Huat Goh of Malaysia in the mixed doubles round of 16.
TABLE TENNIS
Celia Baah-Danso lost 4-0 to Singapore’s Mengyu Yu in the women’s singles round of 16, with Emmanuel Asante and Bernard Sam also losing to their Singaporean opponents in the men’s doubles.
HOCKEY
The female hockey team lost 2-0 to Wales in the penalty shootout after the tie ended 1-1. The match was the 9/10th playoff so Ghana finished 10th overall.
