The Constitution Review Commission inaugurated by President John Evans Atta Mills, to among other tasks, ascertain from the people of Ghana, their views on the strengths and weaknesses of the Constitution has lined up a very informative press conference for Monday, February 15, to tell the public how it intends to proceed with its work.
Dr. Raymond Atuguba, Executive Secretary of the 9-member Constitution Review Commission inaugurated on January 11, 2010, told Myjoyonline.com that apart from internal administrative arrangements, the press conference will mainly elaborate on the order of business and procedural processes that will govern the work of the commission.
The Commissions’ Secretariat located in Cantonments and opposite the new United States of America Embassy will be the venue.
A statement issued by the commission and signed by the executive secretary which announced the press conference enumerated its mandate as follows:
i. Ascertain from the people of Ghana, their views on the operation of the 1992 Fourth Republican Constitution and, in particular, the strengths and weaknesses of the Constitution;
ii. Articulate the concerns of the people of Ghana as regards the amendments that may be required for a comprehensive review of the 1992 Constitution; and
