A 49-year-old corn-miller, Richard Gumanu, allegedly committed suicide last week Tuesday when he suspected his wife was having an affair with her nephew.
Gumanu was found hanged with his bedsheet around his neck at his residence at Gyankrom, a suburb of Nsawam, after his wife had told him to pack his belongings and vacate their home at Adoagyiri Zongo if he could no longer stay with her.
Briefing the Ghana News Agency Friday, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Alex Wowola, Nsawam District Police Commander, said the deceased and his wife, Janet Addo, 56, and their three children had lived together peacefully at Adoagyiri Zongo until a misunderstanding ensued between them recently.
DSP Wowolo said the problem started when the deceased husband accused the wife of having an affair with her nephew.
He said the wife got angry and asked the husband to leave the house.
The Commander said the wife's decision did not go down well with the husband. Later, the wife said she was informed that the husband had committed suicide.
DSP Wowolo said the body of the man had been deposited at the Nsawam Government Hospital pending autopsy while police investigations Continue.
