The High Court in Accra presided over by Justice Anthony Kofi Abada on Wednesday adjourned the contempt case filed by Emmanuel Otu-Quaye, a staunch supporter of Accra Hearts of Oak, against the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and some of its high officials.
Hearing has now been fixed for November 24.
Mr.Quaye filed contempt charges against Mr Kwesi Nyantakyi, President of the GFA, Mr Kofi Nsiah, General Secretary of the GFA, Mr Kweku Ampim Darko, Deputy General Secretary, Mr Randy Abbey, Spokesperson of the GFA and Mr Welbeck Abrah–Appiah, Chairman of the Professional League Board (PLB) for defying the courts order, which sought to place an injunction on the seventh week league matches of the 2006/2007 Onetouch Premier League.
Justice Abada, said the adjournment was due to the unavailability of counsel for Otu-Quaye, Mr. Ernest Thompson, who was indisposed.
He explained that counsel for the plaintiff supported his absence with a copy of his medical report, which compelled him to adjourn the case.
The counsel for the GFA, Mr Thaddeus Sory prayed the court to adjourn the case to November 28, since some of his clients might not be available on November 24 due to the congested calendar of the GFA.
The judge however over ruled his plea and explained that since they were facing contempt charges, it was not mandatory for the defendants to be present at the hearing.
Hundreds of Hearts of Oak supporters, who thronged the precincts of the court went home disappointed as they had anticipated a verdict on the case.
