An Accra Fast Track High Court has ordered suspended Deputy General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kofi Adams to go into arbitration with his party over the recent disciplinary action taken against him.
The court presided over by Justice Asiedu refused to hear a motion by lawyer for Mr. Adams for a summary judgment in his favor because the NDC has failed to enter appearance since the case was heard by the court.
However the Lawyer for Mr. Adams, Stanley Ahorlu who was disappointed at the ruling said Mr. Adams’ membership rights in the party were revoked without following due process.
“The NDC itself stated there expressly that they wanted their disciplinary committee to sit and decide on this matter within 14-days or 28-days or whatever, that period has also expired and the disciplinary committee hasn’t gotten itself together to sit. This is not a group of people who are willing to write along.”
“…I will look at the law and decide with my client’s permission on what to do,” the Lawyer said.
Meanwhile Mr. Kofi Adams has said he will never go for an out of court settlement but will pursue the case till he wins or loses.
Lawyer for the NDC, Samuel Cudjoe also told the court his client was also against arbitration and are ready for a full trail.
