Singer D'banj is asking social media users to stop attacking him because of the rape allegations levelled against him.
According to the 'Fall in Love' hitmaker, he is "innocent until proven guilty."
D'banj shared a video of himself on Instagram dancing and singing the lyrics "some people want make I cry" from his hit song 'Olorun Maje'.
”Innocent until proven guilty…., STOP SOCIAL MEDIA TRIAL #SAY NO TO RAPE AND HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATION”, he captioned the video.
Few weeks ago, Nigerian model scout, Benjamin Ese, had alleged that Dbanj raped his friend on December 31, 2018, at a hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos.
Although D’Banj has denied these allegations via his Instagram handle and even sued for N100M compensation, the beginning of his deal with Heritage Bank which came to him as a 40th birthday gift seems to be coming to a halt.
The suspended deal is coming after a petition asked the United Nations (UN) to end the ambassadorial deal with the singer following a rape allegation against him.
The petition has garnered over 15, 000 signatures.
Meanwhile, the allegation will now be probed after the Inspector-General of Police made the order following the controversies surrounding it.
