The Deputy Minister for Finance, Thomas Nyarko Ampem, has inaugurated the newly constituted Board of Ghana Goldbod Jewellery Limited, formerly known as PMMC Jewellery.
The five-member board, chaired by Sammy Gyamfi, has been tasked with transforming the state-owned enterprise into a competitive force in Africa’s jewellery market.
Mr Ampem commended Goldbod for its contribution to Ghana’s gold value chain, noting that the company’s restructuring represents a major step toward increasing value addition in the gold industry.
“With the establishment of Goldbod Jewellery, Ghana can now count its gold, curb smuggling, and develop a strong domestic jewellery market,” he said.
He urged the new board to intensify efforts to promote Made-in-Ghana gold jewellery and enhance public confidence in locally manufactured products.
