Eddie Dontoh returned a net score of 64 to win the maiden Ghana-Netherlands Chamber of Commerce and Culture (GHANECC) Open Golf Championship played at the Achimota Golf Course in Accra on Saturday.
T.K. Govinous took the second position with 66 net when he beat Sam Block and Godfred Sai on count-back while Sena Ababio placed fifth with 68 net.
Margaret Oppong won the Ladies event with 68 net after beating Comfort Amuzu and Nana Bema Tackie on count-back while Clara Price placed fourth with 69 net.
The One-day 18-Hole Stable-ford competition, which was opened to amateur golfers in the Greater Accra Region, was jointly sponsored by Interberton Ghana Limited, Maersk Ghana Limited and the Netherlands Embassy.
More than 100 golfers took part in the event, which formed part of activities marking the 50th anniversary celebrations of Ghana's Independence.
Mr Peter Gralla, Chairman of the GHANECC expressed happiness at the turn out and expressed the hope that more golfers would continue to participate in the competition in the ensuing years. The Chairman was assisted by Abego Vondee, Coordinator of GHANEEC to present trophies to the winners.
