President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Dr Abdul Nasiru Issahaku as the Governor of Bank of Ghana.
His appointment follows a decision by Dr. Kofi Wampah to take an early retirement, four months before the end of his term on August 05, 2016.
Many attributed his early bow to a recent crisis in the microfinance sector and a controversy around his family after it emerged that his step daughter had married a British fugitive, David McDermott.

But Dr Wampah said his decision was personal and also to give his successor more time to work in an election year.
The First Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), Millison Narh, took over as acting governor of the Bank of Ghana until the appointment of a substantive governor by President John Mahama, Monday, April 4.
