The Dufia of Atorkor, Torgbui Akumey Geli Adjorlolo III, has noted with worry and disappointment the continuous decline of the standards of education in the area.

Torgbui Akumey Geli Adjorlolo made the comment during the commissioning of Atorkor early years education center and the 14th speech and prize giving day of the Atorkor DA Basic School in the Anloga District.

He stated that considering the huge investment in terms of materials and resources provided by the Atorkor Development Foundation over the years there is the need to do something urgent about the situation.

"I am accurately aware the reasons are multifunctional and perhaps complex but at the same time I believe very strongly that this can be turned around," Torgbui Akumey Geli Adjorlolo said.

He noted that the Atorkor Development Foundation would like to work with all the stakeholders including headteachers, staff, parents, PTA, SMC and the district education directory to address the matter urgently.

Torgbui Adjorlolo said the Atorkor Development Foundation has decided to establish a well-resourced center to provide a solid foundation to pre-school children of school going age in Atorkor by providing effective and sustained educational, medical and social support to the children.

He urged parents and guardians to take their children's education seriously in order to help to improve the education system in the area.

Torgbui Adjorlolo noted that the Atorkor Development Foundation will fully engage parents as partners to help bridge the educational gap in the area. 

"Indeed as part of the application process, parents will be interviewed and their roles explained to them" Torgbui Akumey Geli Adjorlolo said.

He noted that the parents will be made to join parents' groups and sign the contract to not only support their children but also strictly follow the rules of the center.

The program was chaired by the Paramount Chief of Amugo Wego and Dufia of Anyako, Torgbui Tenge Dzokoto Gligui VII and was in partnership with the Royal Masonic School for Girls (RMSG) and supported by the Central Baptist Church, Chelmsford (UK).

Awards were given to deserving students and some notable dignitaries.
