A tape has been released featuring Dr. Arthur Kobina Kennedy, a former Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party, suggesting that the NPP may lose the December elections.
The tape features Kennedy telling an assembled group of people that no incumbent party in the fourth republic has lost a re-election bid and that it would therefore be difficult for the NPP to upstage the NDC on December 7.
He told the gathering that the NPP has a lot of work to do if it is to win the presidential race, which is barely a week away, and that the election’s outcome will be decided by the voters of the Greater Accra and Central Regions.
Kennedy’s speech seems to be an analysis of the results of the last election, between the late President Mills and Nana Akufo-Addo.
He said the NPP, being in opposition, would have challenges raising funds to properly conduct its campaign.
However, speaking about the tape, which was released by pro-NDC group Truth Ghana, Kennedy told Adom FM on Thursday that those bandying the tape recording about were only being mischievous. The recording, he said, is over a year old.
He said that at this point in time, he is confident that the NPP will win the December polls hands down. He reported that he has been working feverishly to realise this goal and warned President Mahama that lies peddled by his supporters will not win him the people’s mandate.
