Ghana’s Judoka Emmanuel Nartey has called on authorities in charge of Ghana Judo to draw a 4 year development plan in building the sport to a level where the country will benefit in future international competitions. The United Kingdom based Judoka was Ghana’s first ever Judo competitor at the this year’s Olympics but could not make any impact after bowing out in the early stages following his defeat to Elmont Dex of Holland.Nartey explains to JOY Sports if some attention is not directed to the sport then the country should forget about getting any medal in future Olympic events.“More attention needs to be paid on developing the athletes for future championships because we don’t just wait and at the end of the year we decide to support the players, it doesn’t work that way”. Said Emmanuel Nartey“There must be a 4 year development planning and we need to make sure we support the athletes back home and also must change our attitude towards the sports”.
