Emmanuel Kware Quartey, commonly known as "Akufo Addo" due to his resemblance to the former president, recently triumphed in his lightweight contest against Martin Ahiadrkey at Bukom Park, organized by ACE Power Promotions.
Quartey secured a knockout victory in the third round of the scheduled eight-round match.
The win comes after a disappointing loss in November against Ghana's Olympic gold medalist, Samuel Takyi, at Centre Point Mall in Accra.
When the bell rang to start the contest, Quartey demonstrated why he was once regarded as Ghana’s answer to the country’s title drought.
His footwork, jabs, counterpunches, and power punches were all in sync, leading to the stoppage of his opponent in the third round.
After the fight, Quartey expressed optimism, stating that this victory marks the beginning of many wins, with hopes for a fight in the U.S.
His manager, Mr. Gideon Boamah, noted that this was one of the best performances I’ve seen from Quartey and expressed hopes for continued success when they secure opportunities abroad.
Coach Hybels, head coach for Quartey also celebrated the win and thanked the fans for their overwhelming support.
