The appointment of Acting Executive Director of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Mr Peter Abum-Sarkodie, has been withdrawn, a letter from Office of the President has said.
Mr Abum-Sarkodie was appointed on June 5, 2017, in an acting position, pending advice from governing board of the Agency.
“Regrettably, the President is obliged to withdraw your appointment in the face of the advice from the governing board of the EPA which does not find you a suitable candidate for the position,” the letter, signed by the Secretary to President, Nana Asante Bediatuo, explained.
Mr Abum-Sarkodie has been asked to hand over to the EPA’s Field Operations Director, John Pwamang, by Friday, April 13, 2018.
“The President thanks you for your service and wishes you well in your future endeavours,” the letter said.
The EPA is the leading public body for protecting and improving the environment in Ghana.
A 13-member board of directors, appointed by the President of Ghana, supervises the operations of the government agency.
