With a few weeks to the nationwide elections of regional executives of the largest opposition party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), campaigning in the eastern region is said to be reaching a crescendo.
Scores of party members have expressed interest in contesting various positions at the regional level by picking registration forms with the regional secretariat.
The contest which promises to be a herculean one will see both ‘new and old guards’ flexing muscles.
Whilst a section of the aspirants claim to have adopted the ‘submarine’ strategy of campaigning, others believe coming public means a lot to them.
The week has been an eventful one for a founding member of the Tertiary Students Confederacy (TESCON) of the NPP, Kwame Appiah Kodua and a former New Juaben South Constituency Youth Organizer, Hussein Fadilu Fafana as they gear up to contest the regional organizer and youth organizer positions respectively.

"As someone brought up in the Zongo, my vision is to bring a stop to the notion that the Zongo belongs to the NDC. I know what they do to win in the zongo’s and I have what it takes to make it for the NPP this time," he stated.
As part of efforts to making the youth a part of the party, Babs disclosed that he will set up a youth wing fund with a seed capital of GH¢10,000.
"The youth of the party must be seen working; we have neglected them for far too long. When I am voted, I will establish a youth wing development fund with a seed capital of GH¢10,000".
