European Union delegation donates to Ghana

The European Union delegation in Ghana has donated equipment and office supplies to the Government of Ghana through the Ghana Employment and Social Protection (GESP) programme.

The equipment which are at an estimated value of £1.9 million includes vehicles, motorcycles, office furniture and IT equipment.

At the handing over ceremony on Thursday 11th February, 2021 at the Alisa Hotel in Accra, the head of cooperation of the EU delegation to Ghana Zoltan AGAI, in his remarks expresses his gratitude to all.

He added that the EU’s support was to ensure proper service delivery and expected the various items to be delivered and decentralized to all levels and department of selected beneficiaries.

“It is my pleasure to be part of this event as the European Union officially hands over supply items as part of its support to the Government of Ghana under the EU funded Ghana Employment and Social Protection (GESP) programme. Our support is anchored on ensuring effective service delivery. In view of this we have ensured that the items are also delivered to decentralized levels; selected beneficiary District Assemblies, Labour Departments and Public Employment Centers,” he stated.

In addition, the director of the Resource Mobilization and Economic Relations Division (RMERD) at the Ministry of Finance, Yvonne Quansah also added that the recipients of the equipment put it to good use to achieve its intended purpose.

She further expressed gratitude to the EU for their immense and continuous support to Ghana’s growth.

“As we deliver these logistics to the beneficiaries, we expect that they will be made available to the relevant staff who will take very good care of them and put them to good use in order to achieve the intended purpose. We will also want to want to take this opportunity to call on the beneficiaries to do their utmost best to be efficient and effective in meeting the project deliverables thereby ensuring that the objectives of the projects are achieved.

"Permit me to, first of all, acknowledge the EU’s continuous support to Ghana’s development agenda, particularly in the areas of general reforms, PFM, decentralization, sustainable agriculture, employment and social protection,” she said.
