The Eastern Regional Executive Committee of New Patriotic Party is to mediate in the current impasse among executive members of the party in the Akyem Oda Constituency.
This follows reports of a near clash among members of the constituency last Friday, after attempts by some executive members to hold a meeting in the Party's office at Oda.
The Constituency Chairman of the party, Mr Rockson Ofori, who is also at the centre of the controversy told the GNA that the matter had been referred to the regional executive and that a decision was expected by the close of the week.
He said the regional executive members were currently conducting independent investigations into the matter and was hopeful that a fair judgment would be given at the end.
Also to be investigated are circumstances leading to the decision of some members of the NPP to cast a vote of no confidence in Mr Ofori, an action he described as unconstitutional.
The chairman expressed worry over the dangers the Party could be facing if they are not able to settle the issue amicably and revealed that he might quit active politics after his term of office.
