Existing industries will soon benefit from a stimulus package from government to make them more competitive both locally and on the global market.
Trade and Industry Minister-designate Alan Kyerematen announced this when he appeared before Parliament’s Appointments Committee.
The minister-designate for Trade and Industry Alan Kyeremateng says the ministry is currently fine-tuning policies aimed at advancing the new government’s agenda for Industrial Transformation.
According to him, although government is committed to fully implementing its One-District-One-Factory initiative towards job-creation and import-substitution, it is imperative that existing businesses are boosted.
The ministry, according to the Minister-designate would be embarking on an aggressive export programme to generate enough revenue to not only help stabilize the local currency but the economy at a whole.
Providing easy access to credit especially, for SMEs according to Mr. Kyerematen will be one of his ministry’s strategies in boosting growth in the private sector.
The Gratis Foundation which spearheads the productions of manufacturing equipment locally together with the other agencies that provide such services, according to Mr. Kyerematen will be thoroughly audited to ensure the needed support is provided in the most key areas.
