A 27-year-old farmer has shot his wife and six-month-old daughter to death at Daaman Nwkanta in the Brong Ahafo Region.
Kwame Guruma, desribed as a suscessful farmer who also rears goats, sheep and gunea fowls is said to have killed his 21-year-old wife, Naomi Yaka, in the presence of his extended family members.
Peace FM's reporter Agya Kwabena said Kwame and his wife attended a funeral in their community on Thursday after which Naomi decided to go to her mother's house to prepare food for her family.
She later went to her husband’s family house to greet her in-laws.
According to Egya Kwabena, Naomi’s husband sent her to buy him alcohol which she refused on the grounds that Kwame had already taken in some of alcohol.
Out of anger, Kwame entered his room and came out with his gun. He shot his wife who fell and died while the bullet strayed and hit his six-month-old child in the head. The child was playing in the compound.
Realizing that he had killed his wife and child, Kwame pointed the gun towards his stomack and shot and killed himself to the utter surprise of his family who say the pair had been living peacefully.
