Joseph Amoakwah, 54, a farmer and Paul Martey, 34, a lotto agent were on Friday sentenced to 24 months imprisonment in hard labour by a Koforidua Magistrate Court for stealing from a 17-year-old boy.
The two, pleaded guilty on two counts of conspiracy to steal and stealing.
Another accomplice identified only as Mawuli is on the run and the police had mounted an intensive search for him
Police Inspector Emmanuel Bronya told the court that Samuel Tawiah is a student of Pope John Senior High School in Koforidua.
The prosecutor said on February 15, he returned from his hometown, Akwatia on board a Metro Mass bus and alighted at the bus terminal.
He said no sooner had he left the bus terminal to board another vehicle to school than Amoakwah, Martey and Mawuli accosted him by engaging him in a conversation.
Inspector Bronya said in the process, Martey and Mawuli searched and picked a GH¢ 100 his pocket and shared it and went into hiding.
Inspector Bronya said when the boy arrived in school he discovered that his money was missing and lodged a complaint with the police.
The prosecutor said Amoakwah was arrested and he later led police to arrest Martey.Source: GNA
