As Christmas fast approaches, the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has warned consumers to be careful of the kind of food items they would be buying from the market during the festive season.
In an interview with joy news, Head of the Food Inspectorate Unit, Kofi Essel revealed that most retailers and importers sell unwholesome products to unsuspecting consumers during this season which can be harmful to them.
This is the period of the year when several contaminated products especially consumable goods particularly confectioneries flood the market.
These items sometimes come unregistered, at the verge of expiry or reduced to clear and limited products.
In its quest to fight the food poisoning threats ahead of the festive season, the FDA, is advising consumers to remain vigilant and look out for food items that are unsafe on the market and avoid compromising on cheap food products with attractive packaging.
Kofi Essel also assured the public that the FDA would remain committed to the health and safety of consumers and urged the general public to report any products suspected to be unwholesome to the authority.
