Residents of Dagomba line, a suburb of the Asokore Mampong Municipality in the Ashanti region, are living in fear after the body of a three-year-old girl, missing for days, was discovered lifeless in an uncompleted building.
Police and parents of the deceased had been on a search for the girl, identified as Taslima Labaran, after she went missing on Thursday, April 4, 2024.
After several efforts to locate the girl, her body was eventually found in the building by children who were playing football on a nearby field.
One of them stumbled upon the body while retrieving their ball, which they had kicked into the building reportedly occupied by some police officers.
Her body was located on the top floor of the building, which was being refurbished following a recent fire incident that razed the structure to the ground.
Eyewitnesses had earlier speculated that the lifeless body was discovered without her tongue, but an official autopsy report ascertained the tongue was intact.
Taslima Labaran, before her demise, was a twin born to Rukaya Muntari.
The mother is devastated over the loss of her daughter as her hopes of finding her alive are dashed.
The body of the deceased has been deposited at the morgue for autopsy and preservation.
Meanwhile, the perpetrator of the dastardly murder is yet to be apprehended as the police commence investigations into the matter.
But fear has since gripped residents in the community as the incident is reported to be the first of such happening.
Nasara Ibrahim Muheeb, who usually entertained the dead girl, with a worrying look, said “We always hear of people’s children missing but within some few minutes they are discovered after we’ve lodged a complaint at the mosque. But this is quite strange and makes us feel uneasy living here.”
