Africa’s fastest man, Ferdinand Omanyala, has finally received his visa to participate in the World Athletics Championships in Oregon, USA.
Omanyala will be hoping to arrive in Eugene, Oregon in time for the preliminaries of the men’s 100m which will be staged on Friday from 12.30pm (time in Eugene), which will be 10.30pm Kenyan time and 7.30 GMT.
With his visa yet to be sorted, it had appeared like Omanyala might not be able to compete in the 100m, but it was granted at the last minute, and he will now arrive just hours before the first heat.
The Kenyan shared a post on Twitter saying, “Thanks so much for your support and prayers.”
“Visa challenges are faced by all Kenyans and people daily, in this case I was no different.”
According to Nation Sport, Omanyala is due to take a Qatar Airlines flight at 6pm and is due in Portland at 10.30am local time, which is two and a half hours before the start of the 100m preliminaries.
