Ghanaian electrical engineering company Flux Power & Automation has launched a smart energy management system aimed at helping businesses and institutions monitor electricity consumption, reduce waste and improve energy efficiency.

The company has introduced Smappee Infinity, a technology developed by Belgian clean technology firm Smappee, to provide organisations with real-time information on how electricity is being used across their operations.

The launch comes as businesses continue to look for innovative ways to manage rising operational costs, with electricity remaining a major expense for many companies.

Chief Executive Officer of Flux Power & Automation, Ing. Kwasi Tetteh Akrobettoe, said the product was introduced to address a major challenge facing businesses — limited visibility into their energy consumption.

“Most businesses only see their electricity bill at the end of the month. They do not know which equipment is consuming excess power or where inefficiencies exist,” he said.

He explained that Smappee Infinity gives businesses the ability to track energy use in real time, identify areas of waste and make informed decisions to improve efficiency.

The system combines energy monitoring, remote control and automation features through a digital dashboard and mobile application. It allows users to monitor consumption patterns, control connected equipment and automate energy use based on operational needs.

According to Flux Power & Automation, the technology can be integrated with existing electrical systems, allowing businesses to improve energy management without replacing equipment such as air conditioners, refrigeration units and industrial machinery.

Targeting key sectors

The company says the product will support organisations across several sectors, including banking, hospitality, healthcare, manufacturing, mining, education, retail and real estate.

Flux Power & Automation believes better access to energy data will help companies reduce unnecessary consumption, lower electricity costs and improve overall business performance.

Before the official launch, Smappee Infinity was piloted at the Lakeside Estate Sales Office in Accra, where it was tested under local operating conditions.

Engineers from the Ghana Standards Authority assessed the installation process, after which the system received approval from the Authority.

Mr Akrobettoe said the successful pilot demonstrated the suitability of the technology for Ghana's business environment.

“Businesses looking to reduce operating costs, improve energy efficiency and lower their carbon footprint should see energy management as a strategic investment,” he said.

Founded in 2012, Flux Power & Automation provides electrical engineering, automation and energy management solutions for residential, commercial and industrial clients.
