The race for the Northern Regional Chairmanship position of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is getting hotter as four bigwigs of the party pick nomination forms to contest the position scheduled for January 25.
Mr Bugri Naabu, a business man and Dr Abdallah Clifford Braimah, current Regional Secretary of the party as well as Alhaji Rufui Iddi, current first Vice Chairman have picked forms to contest Alhaji Sulemana Tia, the incumbent Regional Chairman who is also in the race.
Dr Braimah who revealed this to the Ghana News Agency on Friday said the regional election is the next activity for the party after the constituency and electoral area elections were conducted.
He said the process for electing constituency executives had been completed since December 29, 2013 with 31 persons elected without any hitches.
Dr Braimah noted that the NPP is the most democratic party in the country, and voters must turn their attention to in order to salvage their plight.
He indicated that vetting of the contestants would take place on January 11 while all other activities relating to the elections are being handled by the Election Committee.
Dr Braimah said 580 voters are expected to exercise their franchise to elect the candidates of their choice.
Dr Clifford Braimah said 24 persons have so far picked nominations for various positions while campaigning is being done calmly.
“We want the best brains to run the affairs of the party,” he said.
