Four NPP members have petitioned the party’s disciplinary committee demanding the suspension of its General Secretary Kwabena Agyepong for his rebellion against the party's National Executive Council (NEC) decision.
The names of the petitioners are unknown but it has emerged that the Disciplinary Committee may meet next week to consider the petition that could seal the fate of embattled NPP chief administrator.
Joy News Kwakye Afreh-Nuamah told Joy News Thursday, the pending action has influenced Kwabena Agyepong’s decision to attend steering committee meetings, the meetings he once vowed not to honour.
He said appears to have toned down his public utterances and posture towards a controversial decision by the party to suspend its national chairman, Paul Afoko.
In an interview on October 28, Kwabena Agyepong's spokesperson told Joy News he does not recognise the acting Chairman Freddie Blay.
The General Secretary had stepped out from a steering committee meeting explaining that he had received a writ challenging the decision by the party's National Executive Council to suspend the embattled Chairman Paul Afoko.
He was heckled and booed as he rushed to his car to avoid further confrontations from the party's security. His car had also been vandalised.
Kwabena Agyepong was however present at the next steering committee meeting called by Freddie Blay. Paul Afoko's case was thrown out of court.
The party's superior body, the National Council met Thursday to consider Afoko's petition to have the decision reversed.
The General Secretary Kwabena Agyepong who attended the meeting was severely chastised by Ashanti regional NPP Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako.
'Chairman Wontumi' as he popularly called, criticised Kwabena Agyepong for failing to publicly uphold the party decision to suspend Afoko, Joy News' Afreh revealed.
As the national council meeting run late into the evening, the party finally affirmed the decision taken by the party's National Executive Committtee (NEC).
General Secretary Kwabena Agyepong announced the decision to seal the fate of Paul Afoko.
