First Green Energy Company Limited has in partnership with Omega Green Power, an Australian-based company, introduced gas-powered generators onto the market.The liquefied petroleum and natural gas-powered generators have a longer engine-life and are virtually carbon-free, which makes them usable in enclosed areas with adequate ventilation.The generators are easy to use -- by hooking them to any suitable gas bottle or natural gas line with no risk of fuel blockage due to fuel residue deposits.Mr. Dunmis Crossley, Managing Director, Omega Green Power, said the generators have been specifically designed to suit the African terrain and meet all specifications that might be required in the country.“The products are reliable and have been available around the world. We have been selling in Australia for probably four years now, but it has been available in Europe and the United States for the past 12 years.“A lot of testing and technology has gone into it, but it just gets better and better every year as new technology comes in.“The generators are cost-effective compared to others that are run by petrol. The responses we have are unbelievable, we couldn’t have wished for more.”Mr. Crossley explained why they chose the Ghanaian market: “We got emails, probably five or 10 emails a week from African companies wanting to do business with us. We initially did our investigations and realised the big difference with First Green Energy.“We moved further with the relationship and now have to come down to launch the product in Ghana.”Mr. Joseph Cudjoe, Member of Parliament for Effia Constituency, outlined the usefulness of the product, saying it will provide people the opportunity to cut down on costs arising from the use of generators.“The gas-powered generators are cost-efficient and durable, offering consumers an option to choose between the new product and existing ones on the market run by petrol.“Because of our nation’s size, remoteness and our love of the great outdoors, generators are widely used to access reserve power in areas of leisure, work, travel or emergency.”He explained that although LPG has been used for over 100 years, it has been mainly used for home-cooking or heating. The use of LPG as engine fuel is a relatively new market.“Petrol/diesel generators require explicit warning labels, warning the consumers of the dangers of carbon monoxide poisoning associated with operating a portable petrol/diesel generator.“Gas/LPG generators emit low emissions, no smoke and minimal smell -- which is beneficial to people’s health and the environment.“Gas generators provide fuel savings compared to petrol or diesel generators. The generators are both easy and simple to use. Just hook up the Greenpower gas generator to any suitable gas bottle or natural gas line, and you are ready to go.“There is no risk of fuel blockage due to stale fuel or residue deposits, even if the equipment has not been used for long periods of time,” Mr. Cudjoe remarked.
