A gas tanker has fallen over near the toll booth close to Accra on the Tema motorway.
The situation has caused a build-up of traffic on the motorway. Authorities have moved in to remedy the situation, with the police controlling traffic flow.
Officials of the Ghana National Fire Service and the Road Safety management Limited have also moved to the accident scene to coordinate in towing the vehicle away.
Samuel Oboe-Dartey who is the Regional Operations Officer of the GNFS, Tema told Joy News that they have put in all precautionary measures to avoid any fatalities.

He confirmed that there was gas in the tanker but assured that they [fire service personnel] have disconnected the tube and shut the valve.
“We have also disconnected the battery to ensure there’s no power source to the vehicle and we will protect it until it’s safely towed ”, he said.
“We have also diverted the traffic away from the tanker to ensure that there’s no problem”, he added.
The west-bound section of the motorway has been closed due to the incident and that has caused vehicles going to the central business district to be stranded. They will have to wait until the tanker is towed.
Some drivers who spoke to Joy News expressed their displeasure about the situation and pleaded with the authorities to expedite action in order to ensure a free flow of traffic.
