A Communications for Development advocate, Georgina Asare Fiagbenu, has stressed the need to prioritise the all-important subject of punctuality in the country.
She says not only is time management a critical lifeline to the growth and well-being of the populace, it is also about money and also life, and the widespread disregard for it in the country reflects in our stunted development.
Madam Fiagbenu said this while contributing to discussions on the topic “Time Management of Ghanaians” on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show.
https://www.skillsyouneed.com/ps/time-management.html“Considering most of the road accidents we have in Ghana, do you know how many of them are due to the lack of respect for time? This is because people are always rushing because they are late.
“You hear passengers always telling the driver to speed up because they are late,” she said on Thursday.
She further noted that self-discipline is crucial in resolving lateness and absenteeism among Ghanaians.
According to her, “The problem is complex and big, however, we all agree that if we want to be early, you will be early.”
On the same show, a Communications for Social Change Advocate, Togbe Kwasinyi Kakaklolo Agyeman V, called for a national dialogue on time management.
He believed that bringing the issue of ‘Ghanaman Time’ to the front burner will help in enacting policies that can inculcate the spirit of punctuality among people.
“We need to show leadership and engage the entire Ghanaian citizenry that we position and see this as a national issue. And once we all come to that realization, we’ll embrace it and work at it,” he said.
