The remains of the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of GOIL PLC, Rev. Alex Josiah Adzew, have been interred at Gethsemane Memorial Garden in Accra in a private burial.
A memorial service was held at the forecourt of the State House on Thursday, April 20, 2023.
The late Rev. Alex Josiah Adzew was born on June 20, 1966 in Tarkwa.
He sat for the Common Entrance Exam in 1978 and earned admission to the Accra Academy to purse his 'O and A' levels, where he excelled as a science student.

He proceeded to the now Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), where he studied Mechanical Engineering.
He joined GOIL as a sales engineer in Takoradi Zonal office. Rising through the ranks, he was appointed as the first Chief Operating officer of GOIL PLC in 2016, a position he held until his passing.
He was described by his family, colleagues and friends as a devoted Christian, selfless and hardworking who gave off his best in all endeavors. His wife and daughter said their beloved was generous and never settled for less.
In a sermon, Rev. Dr. George Boachie-Darquah encouraged the family to take solace in the word of God that, blessed are those who die in the Lord.

In a tribute, the Group CEO and the Managing Director of GOIL PLC, Kwame Osei Prempeh said, the late Rev. Alex Adzew was a pillar on which he depended and a fulcrum around which the entire business revolved.
The Petroleum Commission, NPA Former Group CEO and MD, the CEO of Tema Lube Oil Company Limited, Dealers of GOIL Retail service stations, among others, in a tribute recalled his exceptional leadership skills.
The late Rev. Alex Josiah Adzew died on March 13, 2023 at the age of 57 in the United States after a short illness. He is survived by his parents, a wife and daughter.
Thanksgiving service was held for him at the Flames of Glory Chapel, Ablekuma Fan Milk on Sunday, April 23, 2023.
