A statement issued in Accra by the Executive Vice President of Gold Fields West African Region, Mr. Peet Van Schalkwyk, said “As the headline sponsors of the Black Stars for the past six years, we at Gold Fields are proud of the successes the team has chalked during this period of our sponsorship.”
“Ghana has become Africa’s leading star in football following a convincing and sterling performance of our gallant Black Stars at the FIFA World Cup appearances in 2006 and 2010.”
Mr. Peet Van Schalkwyk on behalf of the Board of Directors, management and employees of Gold Fields Ghana wished the Black Stars every success in the AFCON 2012 Tournament and urged the team to remain focused at all times and to be encouraged by the “unflinching support of all of us.”
“At Gold Fields, we believe that this Black Stars team will return the trophy to Ghana after a thirty year gap. We wish the Black Stars the very best and urge them to make Ghana proud.
“Black Stars, Go for Gold!!!”
