International Organization for Migration to assist government airlift stranded Ghanaians from Libya.
The Government says it is seeking assistance from the International Organisation for Migration to airlift Ghanaian nationals currently stranded in Libya.
About eighteen of them made a passionate appeal to government to come for them.
Citizens from Sub-Saharan African countries are fleeing the troubled North African country after rebels accused them of being mercenaries engaged by remnant forces of fugitive leader Colonel Muammar Gaddafi.
Deputy Information Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa told Joy News the porous security situation does not make it safe to directly airlift the stranded Ghanaian citizens.
He said the situation should serve as a lesson to Ghanaians everywhere that if there is a situation and the government offers a lifeline they should take advantage of it.
