Asante Kotoko coach Prosper Narteh Ogum has defended the performance of goalkeeper Mohammed Kamara, in Sunday's defeat to Bechem United.
The Guinean goalkeeper misjudged what appeared to be a harmless Kofi Tompuo shot from the halfway line, which ultimately decided the match, 1-0 in favor of the home team.
Sunday's error in judgment was the second error in consecutive matches for Kotoko, after last week's mistimed pass gifted Heart of Lions maximum points in Obuasi.
Speaking at full-time, Kotoko coach Prosper Ogum said the goal was a surprise to everyone.
''I think nobody expected him to take that shot from that angle. Kamara was following the play and the shot was taken so I think it took him unawares.''

According to the Kotoko coach, the goalkeeper had earlier complained about the sun rays blocking his eye vision.
''He was also complaining about the sun, that the sun had interfered with his sight so he could not see the ball,'' Ogum concluded.
Ogum's response has drawn queries about whether or not Kotoko travels with sufficient apparel, as Kamara's problems could have been solved, in part, at least, by wearing a cap.
The defeat to Kotoko is the third consecutive loss in the Ghana Premier League.
Kotoko has also dropped from first to sixth place in a matter of four weeks, having failed to win any of their last four league matches.
