West Africa Football Academy (WAFA) will be up against defending champions Aduana Stars on Wednesday in the ongoing Ghana Premier League (GPL).
Both sides have made an unbeaten start to the campaign, with the clash set to go down as the GPL’s top liner for match-day three.
WAFA boast one of the best home records in the division, having not lost in a home game throughout last season. However, the Sogakope-based side will be up against it when Aduana come to town.
The Fire Boys have a game in hand but currently, find themselves lying in 10th position following last week’s drab scoreless draw with Elmina Sharks.
Aduana dominated Sharks but were ultimately undone by a combination of poor finishing and some resolute defending from the home side.
WAFA, though, recorded an impressive victory away at Liberty Professionals in what was largely a one-sided encounter.
The Academy Boys put up one of their best away showings in recent years, coasting to a 3-1 win, punctuated by some scintillating football, against the Dansoman-based side.
As WAFA and Aduana clash on Wednesday, it would be very difficult to predict who would emerge the victor, however, with WAFA playing at home, they would definitely start as favourites.
If there is any club, though, capable of stopping the Academy Boys on their home turf, then it is this Aduana side.
The Dormaa-based club did not lose over two legs against WAFA last season – winning in Dormaa and drawing in Sogapoke – and would definitely be approaching this game with the same kind of mentality as the previous ones.
An entertaining game is expected to be witnessed by the neutrals, although Aduana are more likely to deploy a conservative, dogged approach in order to counter WAFA’s passing game.
