The Ghana Revenue Authority is stepping up efforts to halt duplication of activities in the clearance process at the Ghana-Togo Border.
The authority is creating a one-stop checkpoint at Nuepe to address the current situation where traders undergo the same checks at both the Ghana and Togo posts.
The initiative dubbed “the Integrated Border Management System” seeks to simplify the customs procedures for travelers and thereby aid trade activities along the border.
The Commissioner General of the GRA, George Blankson revealed this to Joy-Business yesterday at the celebration of the 63rd International Customs Day.
“A conveyor of goods would do the clearance at one point and that clearance would apply to both Ghana and Togo…so it is meant for the convenience of the traveler and the convenience of the importer and exporter,” he pointed out.
