The Black Stars striker was edged out by his Brazilian contender, who helped his side lift the domestic top flight, however Gyan made it to the Best XI team and won the Golden Boot.
Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan’s ambition of lifting the Arabian Gulf League’s Foreign Player of the Year award suffered a setback as he lost to Brazilian striker Grafite.
The former Sunderland goal poacher for the second time in a row lost the crown, despite being in fantastic shape for Al Ain in the Arabian League.
The Ahli striker has been a threat to the 29-year-old who has scored over 100 goals in all competitions in the UAE since his summer transfer from the Stadium of Lights in 2012. Last season he netted 29 goals for The Boss.
Gyan was, however, adjudged the top goal scorer of the season with 29 goals in the top flight and made it to the Best XI team of the season.
The Baby Jet is expected to arrive in Ghana by the close of the week to begin preparation for the World Cup.
